Our products
This statement applies to the following Kontala products:
- Kontala web application (app.kontala.com)
- Kontala marketing website (kontala.com) - the site you are reading now
- Kontala mobile app for iOS and Android - currently in development
What we're doing
Accessibility is part of how we design, build and maintain our products. Our current practices include:
- We use the axe-core testing library, integrated into our development and continuous integration (CI) pipeline, to catch accessibility issues as we build.
- We audit pages during development using Lighthouse and WAVE.
- We test keyboard-only navigation across all key user journeys.
- We periodically carry out screen reader testing using VoiceOver on macOS and NVDA on Windows.
- We use WAI-ARIA attributes where the semantics of HTML elements alone are not sufficient to convey purpose to assistive technologies.
- We conduct annual third-party accessibility audits of key user journeys, in line with HMRC guidelines for recognised Making Tax Digital (MTD) software.
Standards and conformance
Our target standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
Our products are currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard. Active remediation work is under way to close the remaining gaps.
This statement was last reviewed in July 2026.
Known limitations
We are actively working to identify and resolve accessibility barriers. Where we identify issues that cannot be resolved immediately, we document them and prioritise them for remediation. If you encounter a specific barrier, please let us know using the contact details below.
Technical specifications
Accessibility of Kontala relies on the following technologies working with your browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your device:
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript (Vue 3 and Nuxt)
- WAI-ARIA
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the standards set out above.
