Tala's action proposals

When Tala drafts a change such as a new expense, it appears as an action card that you review and confirm before anything happens.

Last updated 20 July 2026.

Tala never changes your books on its own. When you ask it to record or approve something, it prepares the change as a card in the chat, marked Action, and waits for your decision.

What Tala can propose

  • Create expense - a new expense claim, drafted from the details you give in chat.
  • Approve expense - the approval of an expense claim that has been submitted.

These are the only two actions Tala can propose today. Everything else in your books changes only when you do it yourself in the app.

Review and confirm a card

  1. Ask Tala, for example: "Record a £42.50 expense for a team lunch today".
  2. Tala replies with an Action card titled Create expense, summarising the change with the Amount, Date, and Supplier it gathered.
  3. Pick the Category. Tala suggests one, but the final choice is always yours.
  4. Choose Confirm to make the change, or Dismiss to discard the card with nothing recorded.

The card shows Done with a green tick once the change is made. An expense created this way is a normal claim, exactly as if you had added it yourself under Money Out; see Create an expense claim.

The same rules as doing it by hand

Confirming a card runs through the same checks as making the change on the matching screen, so a card cannot get around your permission level. Approving an expense, for example, still requires an owner or admin. For how approval works day to day, see Submit and approve expenses.
