Set up your organisation

Sign in, turn on two-step verification, choose where data is stored and invite your team.

Everything in Kontala belongs to an organisation: its properties, its people and its data.

How an organisation is created

Kontala creates each organisation for you, with its name and the region its data is stored in. There is no self-serve sign-up. To get started, book a demo.

Sign in at konta.la with the email address you were invited with.

Turn on two-step verification

We recommend that everyone turns on two-step verification.

  1. Open Settings, then My details.
  2. Under Two-step verification, choose Turn on two-step verification.
  3. Scan the code with the authenticator app on your phone, or type the setup key into the app.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows.

Signing in then asks for a code from your authenticator app as well as your password. Keep your recovery codes somewhere safe: they let you in if you lose your phone. Only you can set this up, so nobody else, not even an admin, can do it for you.

Choose where your data is stored

Before any property can collect, an admin makes a one-time choice on the Where your data is stored page. It cannot be changed later. Kontala stores your events in its own warehouse in the EU.

Set your reporting currency and time zone

An admin sets the organisation's reporting currency and time zone in Settings, under Organisation. Ad spend is stored and shown in the reporting currency, and a visit's day is counted in the reporting time zone. You need both before you can upload ad spend.

Invite your team

  1. Open Settings, then Users.
  2. Choose Invite a user, enter their email address and choose a role.

Roles

RoleWhat they can do
AdminEverything: change how tracking is configured, make server keys, invite and manage people, and change the organisation's details
MemberSee the organisation, its people and its properties, create and archive properties, and create and revoke write keys
ViewerSee the organisation, its people and its properties and their tracking

A member cannot change how tracking is configured, so turning capture features on and off needs an admin.

Your role in Kontala also sets what you can do in Analytics. See Access control.
