Final accounts and notes
Last updated 27 July 2026.
Kontala builds two versions of your year end accounts from the ledger, in the micro-entity layout (FRS 105).
The two reports
On the End of Year screen:
- Full Report - the complete accounts, including the pages a company keeps for its own records.
- Companies House Report - the shorter version intended for filing at Companies House.
Both open with a Contents page and include Directors and Advisers, the Directors' responsibilities statement, the accounts themselves, and the notes. Choose Download PDF to save a copy.
Until the year is approved, every page is watermarked DRAFT. Approving the accounts replaces the watermark with the signature - see Review, approve and file.
For the everyday, non-statutory view of the same figures, see Profit and loss and Balance sheet. The Final accounts report under Reports shows the same statutory layout for any date range, without the year end wrapper.
Fill in the notes and settings
Some figures in the accounts cannot be derived from your bookkeeping - you have to state them. Choose Manage notes and settings to enter them.
- Employee average - the average number of employees during the year. This is a required Companies House disclosure. Directors count only when they are employed under a contract, and 0 is allowed.
- Associated companies - the number of companies associated with yours. This affects the Corporation Tax rate.
- Directors (one per line) - the names to list in the accounts.
- The statutory notes, each free text: Capital Commitments Note, Contingent Liabilities Note, Director Advances Credits Note, Director Guarantees Note, and Financial Commitments Note.
- Choose Save changes.
Leave a note empty and it does not appear in the accounts. Saving replaces everything in the dialog, so clearing a field clears the stored value.
Ask your accountant if you are unsure what belongs in a note. Kontala formats the figures, it does not give advice.
Brought forward figures for migrated companies
The last group of fields, Brought forward figures (migrated companies), is only needed when your company's earlier years were kept in another system, so Kontala cannot see them:
- Trading losses b/f
- Main pool b/f
- Special pool b/f
Enter each as a positive amount in pounds, as at the start of this year. They feed the Corporation Tax computations - see Corporation Tax and the CT600.
If Kontala has your full history, leave them blank.
