Your trading profit
Last updated 31 August 2026.
Go to Tax, then Income Tax, and pick a tax year. The first tab, Trading profit, is your books for that year.
The columns
The table shows the tax year in cumulative periods, each with the income, costs and profit your books hold to that point. Each column carries a status:
- Not yet ended - the period is still running.
- Ready to review - the period has ended and its books are worth checking.
- Complete - the period is done.
- Before you started - the period ended before your business began trading. Common in a first year.
These are statements about your books, not about HMRC. Kontala does not file quarterly updates, so nothing here is "Due" or "Filed".
Why the Computation tab shows a different figure
The columns above are your books. Capital allowances and the SA103 adjustments are annual rather than quarterly, so they are applied once at the year end - which is how the Computation tab reaches a different number.
A short reconciliation strip underneath walks from one to the other. If those steps ever stop accounting for the whole difference, the strip says so: treat the Computation tab as the figure, and check with your accountant before filing from either.
If you have more than one business
The trading pages are about this organisation's trade. If the proprietor runs more than one business in Kontala, each has its own set of trading pages, and their own Self Assessment covers all of them together - see Your own return.
