Account transactions

Use the Account Transactions report in Kontala to see every entry in a single account and trace it back to its source document.

Last updated 20 July 2026.

Account Transactions is the drill-down report: every entry posted to one account, over any period. Use it whenever you want to know exactly what makes up a figure on another report.

Run the report

  1. Go to Reports and choose Account Transactions. You land here automatically when you click an account on the Trial balance or a line on the Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet.
  2. Pick the Account - the list is grouped and searchable.
  3. Pick a Date range: All time, This month, This quarter, Year to date, or Last 12 months.
  4. Choose Apply.

Read the report

Each row shows the Date, a Description, and the amount in the Debit or Credit column, with a Total row at the bottom. Where the entry came from an invoice, expense, or bill, the description links straight to that document.

All time is the default, so the total reconciles with the account's balance on the Trial Balance.

Superseded and reversed entries

When you edit or reopen a document, Kontala never deletes the original entry - it posts a reversal, and the pair nets to zero. These are hidden by default; tick Show superseded / reversed entries to see the full chain, which is handy for auditing.
