Bank feeds: what Kontala supports today

Kontala does not yet offer live bank feeds, and this article explains how transactions get into your accounts instead.

Last updated 20 July 2026.

Kontala does not yet offer live bank feeds. There is no open banking connection to set up, and on each account's page the Bank feed card simply reads "No bank feed connected." - that is normal, and nothing is broken.

How transactions get into Kontala

There are two ways to get your bank activity into your books today:

  • Statement imports. Export a CSV or OFX file from your online banking and upload it - Kontala auto-detects the columns and skips anything already imported. See Import a bank statement.
  • Manual entry. Add individual transactions by hand, useful for cash or one-off corrections. See Add a transaction manually.

A routine that works

Because re-importing the same rows is safe, a simple habit keeps your accounts accurate:

  1. Once a week (or month), export a statement covering the period since your last import.
  2. Upload it to the matching account in Kontala.
  3. Explain the new lines - see Explain a transaction.

Overlapping exports do not create duplicates, so you do not need to be precise about the date range.

Are bank feeds coming?

Yes - live bank feeds are planned, so that transactions arrive automatically without an upload step. We do not have a date to share yet.

Until then, statement imports keep an account fully up to date with a few minutes of work. If you have questions about feeds for your bank, contact support@kontala.com.
