A quick tour of Kontala

A walk through Kontala's navigation bar, from Tala on the left to the account menu on the right.

Last updated 20 July 2026.

Everything in Kontala hangs off the navigation bar across the top of the app. Here is what each area does, left to right.

The top navigation

  • Tala - your AI accountant, and the first page you see after signing in. Ask anything about your books in plain English. See Tala.
  • Contacts - the customers and suppliers you do business with. See Contacts.
  • Products & Services - the items you sell and buy, including tracked stock. See Products and services.
  • Money In - everything you earn: Estimates, Invoices, Credit Notes, and Projects. See Estimates, Invoicing, and Projects.
  • Money Out - everything you spend: Purchase Orders, Expenses, Bills, and Payroll. See Purchase orders, Expenses, Bills, and Payroll.
  • Banking - your bank accounts, statement imports, and transaction explanations. See Banking.
  • VAT - your VAT returns and filing to HMRC. See VAT.
  • Reports - Dashboards plus the ledger reports: Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Final Accounts, Trial Balance, Account Transactions, and Capital Assets. See Reports and Capital assets.

The account menu

The button showing your company name, top right, opens the account menu. This is where settings live: Company Details, Settings for your accounting dates, VAT Registration, Users, Integrations, Change Password, and Logout. If you are not an admin, you see My Details in place of the admin-only items. If you belong to more than one organisation, the menu starts with a switcher between them. See Account and settings.

Why some items are missing

The navigation only shows what your permission level can reach, so a colleague may see fewer items than you. See User permission levels.
