After you sign up, a Kontala consultant helps you connect your accounts and set up your first VAT return.

Signing up is only the first step. From there, we help you get set up so your first return is ready to go.

A quick review

After you sign up, one of our consultants reviews your details and reaches out by email - usually within one business day. This is a real person, not an automated message, and it is your chance to ask anything about MTD VAT, pricing, or getting started.

Connecting your accounts

Next, we help you connect your data so Kontala can see your transactions. You can:

  • Link a FreeAgent account,
  • Connect your bank feeds, or
  • Import a CSV export of your transactions.

Kontala reads your transactions and learns how your business works. Full guides for each option are coming in the Connecting your accounts and data section.

Your first VAT return

Once your accounts are connected, we help you set up and review your first VAT return. You can ask questions in plain English, and Kontala flags anomalies and explains how each figure was worked out before anything is submitted to HMRC.

Then it runs itself

After the first return, Kontala keeps watching your books in the background. It tracks your VAT position as money moves, so the next return is ready when you are - no scramble at the deadline.
