Movers explore

The Movers explore ranks what moved: visits and conversions under every breakdown, against the week before and the usual. What it covers, what to know when reading it, and every dimension and metric in it.

The Movers explore shows what moved. It adds up your visits under every breakdown a change is ranked by, such as channel, landing page and device, on the days you pick, beside the same days 7 days earlier and what those weekdays typically see.

Good to know

  • A visit is in the sums of every breakdown, so group by Breakdown and Segment, or filter to one breakdown. Then each breakdown's segments add up to the whole, and a change splits exactly into its segments' changes. A metric with neither counts each visit once for every breakdown.
  • Only the last 13 weeks are here. An older period has no movers, though the Trends explore still has it.
  • Filter Date to pick the days to look at.
  • A segment that fell to zero this period is still a row, with its earlier weeks.

Dimensions

The Movers explore has 7 dimensions.

Main dimensions

DimensionTypeDescription
DateDateThe day being looked at, in the organisation's reporting time zone, in the last 13 weeks. Every metric counts the visits of these days, or of the days it compares them with. Time intervals: Day, Week, Month, Day of the week (index), Day of the week (name).
BreakdownStringWhat a change is ranked by: Channel, Source / medium, Campaign, Landing page, Landing page type, Device type, Browser, Country, Website or Visitor. Each visit is under every one of them, so group or filter by it.
SegmentStringThe visit's value under the breakdown: its channel, its landing page, its country and so on, each as the Visits and Page views explores read it.
ChannelStringHow the visit arrived, as the Visits explore reads it: what the dashboard's Channel filter narrows every breakdown to.

Browser, operating system and device

DimensionTypeDescription
Device typeStringDesktop, mobile, tablet or smart tv, from the User-Agent header, and unknown where it names no platform: the hardware, where Device class is the layout the window's width gives. A tablet asking for desktop sites, as Safari on iPad does by default, reads as desktop.

Data source and quality

DimensionTypeDescription
SiteStringThe property the event was sent to, read from the key it was sent with.
Allowed originBooleanWhether the page's origin is one its property allows. False marks a development server, a staging copy or another site carrying the snippet, so filter on true for real traffic. A property that lists no allowed origins allows every one.

Metrics

The Movers explore has 15 metrics.

MetricCalculationDescription
VisitsSumVisits with at least one page view, under the segment. On the days the Period filter picks, in the organisation's time zone, complete days only.
Converting visitsSumVisits with a purchase, a lead, a demo request, a newsletter signup or a trial start, under the segment. On the days the Period filter picks, in the organisation's time zone, complete days only.
ConversionsSumConversions, each kind once a visit, under the segment. On the days the Period filter picks, in the organisation's time zone, complete days only.
RevenueSumRevenue, each order once, under the segment, in the site's own currency. On the days the Period filter picks, in the organisation's time zone, complete days only.
Conversion rateRatio (%)The share of the segment's visits that converted. On the days the Period filter picks, in the organisation's time zone, complete days only.

Comparisons

Each metric above also comes in 2 versions named after it, such as Visits (7 days earlier):

VersionWhat it shows
7 days earlierThe same days 7 days earlier: week over week. Empty while any of those days is in Kontala's first recorded week.
TypicalWhat these days usually see: the average of the same weekdays in the 8 weeks before, or in as many of them as Kontala has recorded. For a ratio, the same weekdays in the 8 weeks before, or in as many of them as Kontala has recorded, added up before dividing, so a busy week counts for more than a quiet one.
